Posted on 4/11/2011
The 55th Apple Blossom Queen will be crowned on Saturday, May 7 in Springfield, VT.
Eleven high school senior girls and their chosen escorts will be joined by 24 elementary school couples as they perform and present themselves to judges and to the almost 2,000 people who attend the two performances. The theme of this year’s Cotillion is “Days Gone By,” and features favorite songs from past Cotillions.
“The Cotillion is both a community pageant and a fundraising event,” says Larry Kraft, Director of the Foundation, which presents the event. All proceeds from the Cotillion will be used for the Dr. E. Sherburne Lovell Health Career Award and to fund nutrition education and physical activities for area youth.
Pam Church and Carrie Jewell return for their 8th year as directors of the Cotillion. Larry Kraft will be the event’s master of ceremonies for the 11th consecutive year.
In addition to the Saturday, May 7 Grand Performance with Crowning of the Apple Blossom Queen, there is an Opening Night Performance on Friday, May 6. Both performances are at 7:30 pm with doors opening at 6 pm at Dressel Gymnasium at Riverside School in Springfield, Vermont.
Tickets for the Friday, May 6 performance cost $10. Tickets for the Saturday, May 7 performance cost $15. All tickets may be purchased in advance at Tina’s Hallmark in the Springfield Plaza, the Gift Shop at Springfield Hospital, and at Cotillion rehearsals.
