Ballroom Dancing - Continuation Class (Participants must have completed an Introduction Class)
This class is for more experienced dancers and you will learn more steps and try more dance styles. We may try some cha-cha, salsa/mambo, fast waltz, and samba. This class is tailored more to the skill and interest of the participants. Classes will be held at the Springfield Adult Day Services Building, 266 River Street, Springfield, VT. Includes 8 weekly sessions on Tuesdays, starting September 21st, from 6:00pm – 7:00 pm and the cost is $60 per person (Need to have a partner). Instructor: Jenny Gelfan
Introduction to Ballroom Dancing - Dancers will learn a bit of swing, Latin and ballroom dancing. This class is about having more fun dancing with a partner. You will dance easy steps and styles to popular music. If you have never danced, or are a bit rusty, this is the class for you. You will learn swing, waltz, meringue, foxtrot, and maybe a bit of tango and/or rumba. Classes will be held at the Springfield Adult Day Services Building, 266 River Street, Springfield, VT. AARP Driver Safety Program - This program improves driving skills in people age 50 and over. It helps people refine existing skills while developing safe, defensive driving techniques that save lives. Participants have fewer crashes and may save on insurance premiums. Class will be held at the VFW – Robert L. Johnson – Post 771, Springfield, VT on Wednesday, October 20th, from 9:00am – 1:00 pm. Cost: $12 for AARP members, $14 for all others. Relaxed Living - This experiential program provides participants with practical knowledge about how to use mind/body practices to improve their responses to real and perceived stressors in their daily lives, and to provide the skills necessary to engage in these activities on their own. Drawn from the ancient natural medicine of India, called Ayurveda, and Yoga, Ayurveda’s sister science of mind/body integration, the course is designed for people of all ages and abilities, regardless of prior experience with mind/body medicine. Instruction will be individualized according to the needss and capabilities of attendees. Wear lose clothing, and bring a towel and a small blanket. This program is offered at the Springfield Hospital Library and includes 5 weekly sessions, on Mondays from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm, starting September 20th. This is a free program and is open to all. Instructor: Ani Hawkinson, PhD, ND. This program will also be offered in Bellows Falls, starting January 2011.
Healthy Aging Series - This is a free monthly educational series held at the Springfield Senior Center, Springfield, Vermont. All presentations are 10 am – 11am. All are welcome to attend to hear the presentation and to ask questions. No registration necessary.
