Delores Barbeau, MD, MPH Joins SMCS

SPRINGFIELD, VT — Springfield Medical Care Systems (SMCS) is pleased to announce the addition of Delores Barbeau of Weston, VT, to the medical staff.  

Dr. Barbeau is joining Barbara Dalton, MD, and the staff at Family Medicine Associates in Springfield, VT, as of August 1, 2012. 

Dr. Barbeau has worked as a staff physician providing inpatient care and ambulatory medicine at Burbank Hospital, Fitchburg, MA, Leominster Hospital, Leominster, MA, and Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston Evening Medical Center in Boston, MA. Locally, she practiced at Mountain Valley Medical Clinic from 2000 to 2008, providing ambulatory care for children and adults including gynecology and urgent care. Most recently, her work includes Neighborhood Connections in Londonderry, VT, and Rutland Free Clinic, Rutland, VT.  

Dr. Barbeau received her B.A. from the University of New York at Maryknoll, and completed her medical degree and internship at Universidad de San Simon Cochabamba, Bolivia.  She completed a residency in Surgery and Emergency Medicine at Elizabeth Seton Hospital, Cochabamba, Bolivia, and family practice residency at Wayne State University Family Practice Residency Program and University of Massachusetts, Fitchburg Family Practice Residency Program.  She has also been an Assistant Professor to medical students and Family Practice and Internal Medicine Residents through Harvard Medical College, Boston, MA, and University of Massachusetts Family Practice Residency, Fitchburg, MA.

Appointments are now being scheduled for Dr. Barbeau at Family Medicine Associates in Springfield, VT. When the new Springfield Health Center opens at 100 River Street in early September, Dr. Barbeau will see patients at the new location. She will initially be scheduling appointments only for former patients of Dr. Lawrence, but will eventually be opening her practice to other patients as well.
