
Springfield Medical Care Systems (SMCS), a not-for-profit, community-based health care system, is the parent corporation of the SMCS community health center network and Springfield Hospital.
The SMCS health center network consists of nine federally-qualified community health center locations, which include walk in care in Ludlow and Bellows Falls, Vt. These sites make high-quality, comprehensive, and affordable care available to all, with financial assistance available based on a sliding fee. Services include primary and preventive health for people of all ages, pediatrics, diagnostic lab and radiologic services, health screenings, mental health programs, and will soon include dental care and access to discounted pharmaceuticals.
Springfield Hospital is a critical access hospital located in Springfield, VT. The hospital offers 24-hour emergency care, general surgery services, a hospitalist program, and comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services including an Adult Day Program, Breast Care Center, ChildBirth Center, Skin Cancer Clinic, and physical therapy and rehabilitation services. A comprehensive program of inpatient and outpatient mental health services are offered at The Windham Center in Bellows Falls, VT. Other medical specialties include ear, nose and throat; plastic, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery; ophthalmology; orthopaedics and sports medicine; podiatry; psychiatry; and urology. In addition, outpatient clinics for cardiology, dermatology, neurology, and oncology help residents receive the specialty care they need, close to home.
